If you want a more authentic AK you would be better of getting an Arsenal or American Armory AK and it would be cheaper in the long run. Krebs has made them look like standard AKs but it takes $$$. I find the Vepr furniture comfortable and the stock fits me way better than standard AK furniture. I wanted shooters though. Veprs are fantastic rifles and contrary to rumors if you go to thier web page their is all kinds of spare parts listed. I would look and see what Atlantic Firearms was selling.

I am planning on getting 2 5.56 rifles(yeah I know a sin) and getting rid of my 5.45 and 7.62 guns. Or at least regulate them to second line use.

From what I can tell. You would have to have the foregrip retainer clip thingy installed.....But I like tha foregrip on my vepr. Seems wider and more stable, but thats just me.

You could have a slot cut for an RPK handguard retainers, and use RPK furniture. This will require pressing off the gas block and front sight assy.
The barrel is too thick for a standard AK handguard retainer. I guess you could have the barrel turned down, and replace all the front end parts with AK ones, but that seems like a lot of work and expense for what you're getting. |

For such a major re-do, I try the WASR3 instead.
Keep the 5.45 and 7.62 until you have lived with the 5.56 option a while... |
