I was browsing through the Beta Company website and came across the page for new up and coming products.

They show that they will be offering 7.62mm soon.

The picture on the website is kinda dark, but it looks like a Ruger Mini-30.  Does this mean that the AK47 Beta Mag will be available soon?

I think that they are kinda pricey going for $200+.  But, overall that looks like good news for a new option of drum mag.

usually 7.62 denotes 7.62 NATO, 7.62x51 or .308 and not 7.62x39.  If you're referring to .308 AK's then nevermind, but if you are getting your hopes up for a 7.62x39 beta mag, Why?  Why would you want a drum that is by many reports unreliable, made of plastic and nearly 3 times the price of a steel AK drum?  Just wondering.  It might look cool on someone's AR wannabe AK, but I don't know if it will look strange on most.

In the case of the 7.62 beta mag on their website, it is .308 and will be produced for M14 type rifles and HK91's, I haven't heard of an FAL version yet.  The picture you saw on their website looks to be a short barrel M14 like a Socom model, looks similar to a Mini-30

I don't know about unreliable.  I've had nothing but good experience w/Beta's in AR's.  An AK might be another thing,  I guess until they actually make one available - One can only make assumptions.

I don't plan on shelling out the money that they bring either.  I'm perfectly happy w/the normal mags and drums currently available (A lot cheaper).  I was just posting the info for those that might be interested.

Now that you mentioned it.....it does look like the M14.  The back part looked similiar to the Ruger, but the front of the barrel was throwing me.

About a year ago I decided to make a new tower for my Beta mag. I used an orange bakelite 5.54 mag as the basis for the new tower. I had to make a new top bullet spacer also. The aluminum factory one got chewed up by the bolt carrier. The new one I made out of steel. This mag functions perfectly on my Norinco 84S2 in 223

It will also feed 5.45 in my RPK74. Only problem there is it will only hold 30 rounds of the 5.45.
Still looks cool though.

So much for a beta not looking cool on a classic AK.

I've seen you post that before. If I had an extra $200 I'd steal your idea in a heartbeat, good job ...

U.S. companies can't make anything work for the AK. The U.S. Military tried the Beta C mags as
an option for the SAW (M249) and there was numerous problems. So if they tried to make one for the AK despite the caliber. I would have my doubts about it.

try reading that page again "NATO 7.62 x 51mm, .308 caliber" and the dark picture clearly shows an M14 family based weapon...

oh well...

the drums look good on AKS.  happy hunting...

wow that HK beta mag will way a ton.  jeez.  The mini 14 one is VERY VERY interesting though.  If the mag is reliable, might be worth picking up a class II mini14 half the price of the ar.

I believe that rifle on the http://betaco.com/newproducts.asp website is a Springfield Armory Socom 16. A 100 round mag in this is awesome.
