Seems like this was a nonissue at battle, but could be easily remedied for collectors?
Could you replace the tip of the selector with something non marring...Am I compulsive

I think that the selector scratch is just another one of the AKs charms. It was meant to be there, don't fight it.

Nylon fishing line wound & tied around the selector. Kinda of ghetto tactical but it works.

I've seen a refinished MAK 90, the owner didn't want the "selector track mark" on the newly refinished receiver, he superglued a thin nylon washer over/around the selector detent nub. Thick enough to keep the detent nub from touching the receiver, almost 1mm thick, and small enough diamter you couldn't see if from looking at the side of the receiver. There was still enough "sideways" pressure from the selector against the wall of the receiver to keep it in position. |

I am glad that I don't own ANY safe queens so I don't have to worry about how to get the brass tracks off the brass deflectors or worry about the track that the selector lever leaves. If you are worried about appearance that much, put the rifles in a display case on the wall and buy a couple extra rifles to

Ony of my primary reasons for concern was that I don't have a setup to parkerize. some of my kits are built on OOW recvrs that are just painted. Figure its a likely worry that it may rust.
In the future I am going to buy parked recvrs. |

Don't take what I said in my last post wrong. There was no malice or ill will meant in it. I was serious as a heart attack about what I said. Seriously, if you want rifles that are pristine, then buy a display case, it's just that I don't have any rifles like that.

work the selector about 100 times a day. Do this for a few months.
Then the scratch will turn into a groove, then no more selector scratch! |

Yep. Back when I was younger (dumber?), and had an SKS, I thought "Who would want one of those AKs, they cant even design it to not scratch itself." Glad I got better.
