How do these two rifles compare?  Is there a clear favorite, or is it Ford versus Chevy?

There is nothing wrong with a SAR-2, but the Bulgarian rifle will be manufactured to a higher level.

The money you spend making the SAR 2 into the Bulgarian 5.45mm.
You'd already paid and saved yourself alot of money and trouble with just buying the Bulgarian
first. It's the best option in AK-74's.

Both should work, but i'd pay the extra $100 for a bulgarian if i had the cash.

The two are virtually identical. Both have bare muzzles and no bayo lugs. Both would need a new FSB and brake to be 100% evil again. This would cost slightly more with a rommy, because the US made brake costs more. With the 105R, i think the buttstock is US, so you can use a bulgarian brake.

You could have a SAR-2 with a new FSB and brake for about the price of a bare 105R, but it would still be wood.

It all comes down to what kind of finish you want, what features you want, and how much you have to spend.

I would get the Bulgarian one. The quality is much higher in my opinion. I do have a Romanian and it goes bang.

Thanks guys, you seem to be all singing the same song.  Since I live in CT, I can't have a threaded barrel or bayo lug anyway, so it sounds like the SLR-105R is the best bet.

Thanksa again!

Bulgarian, their craftsmanship is a cut above anything Romanian.
