Drags were only imported hit and miss, and long ago.

Now, they are selling a PSL.  Selling so well, they are also selling a "paratrooper" version.  Saiga and VEPR both also sell .308 AKs.

Think there's a chance of us getting a real Dragunov imported or built next year?

Unless someone starts making them here, or import restrictions change then no.

SVDs are only made in Russia and China. Now, there are Arms Agreement or ban with both of them preventing SVDs from being sold.

If it was not for the current Arms agreements/bans then a SVD would be importable simply by removing the flash hider.

Oddly, from what I understand the ATF has not allowed importation from a 3rd country either. If a weapon is in another country for 5 years, its legally from that country regardless of where it was originally made. I have heard of people trying to import them from Canada, Bulgaria, and others with no luck. I guess they dont like the SVD for other reasons also.

I think the 30 Mauser was banned because of its ability to penetrate kevlar vests.

Plenty of new Czech made S&B, Italian Fiocchi .30 Mauser, Romanian & Yugo milsurp coming in.  Probably just a deal to fvck with the Russians.  Can't have cheap Wolf or Barnaul 7.62x25 & Russki Tokarevs flooding the streets ya know.

RiffRandall:

I don't disagree with what you wrote.  The real purpose of the entire trade restriction was to jerk the Russians around and give Clinton a bone to throw to his antigun supporters, in my opinion.

But at the time I think that the reason given by the US bureaucrats for putting the Russian 30 Mauser ammo on the no-no list was that it was pistol caliber ammo that could defeat kevlar vests.
