Three Cheers for the 4th ID
I have been sitting here watching the standard liberal media drivel this morning. And interspersed between the joyous news of Sadaam's capture is the usual gloom and doom. Its still not over, why did we go there, where are the weapons, blah, blah, blah. Lets don't focus on the positive changes that will be brought about by this great moment in history, lets just take another swipe at Bush.
Well in all that rhetoric one thing has yet to be mentioned. The men and women of the 4th Infantry Division. We here in Colorado Springs have had more than our share of casualty notices. The 4th has lost more soldiers then any other unit. We have had more funerals here then anywhere else. The loss rate has been high, a fact not lost on President Bush. So much so that you'll recall he was just here a few weeks ago to meet with the families of those lost in action.
So I feel it only fitting and proper today to shout 3 CHEERS FOR THE 4TH ID!!
I don't think its random chance or sheer luck alone that led to the capture of Sadaam. It is not coincidence that the unit that has paid the highest price won the prize. It is the result of the steadfast determination and commitment of the men and women who have prosecuted this war.
To push on in the face of heavy losses. To fight on for the freedom and liberty of people they don't even know. That's what we as American's do. Its what we've always done. And its all due to unselfish and honorable men and women like those in the 4th ID.
They have fought the good fight. They have continued to place themselves in harms way. And for that we all owe them a great round of applause and a hearty well done.
