If I ever get a SAR-1 I won't clean it until necessary! It's a cheap little AK, it'll be fine.

My milled side folder Krinkov has over 8,000 rounds through it on full auto. I'm not going to clean it till it stops. It's the 7.62 in Krinkfreak's pics.

back in the late 80's when the used chicom sks's first showed up me an a bud picked one up an beat the hell out of it, ran corrosive through it, never cleaned it, just shot the shit out of it, never did jam up, the lil gas piston rod froze in place an the sucker ran off blowback (we did finally clean it then)  hard to beat communist inginuity on weapons

A buddy of mine was shooting his full auto at the range and took the top cover off to cool. Shot a couple other things then put the top cover back on and shot several hundred more rounds. When he took the cover back off there was a chewed up .45 case in the receiver.

Krinkfreak,

Could you please post some of the pics of Troy’s 8000 round dirty gun?

I just got an SAR-1.  I tore it down, cleaned it all up, and I don't intend to clean it again.  I'm an AR guy, and I just want to see how long it will go.  I'm afraid to do that with my AR's!

Just out of curiosity...

can an AK be fired without the reciever cover on it?

It doesnt look like it really holds anything down...just sits there to protect the action from debris.

Is this true?  Or might that cause catastrophic failure?

You are correct, all it does it keep dust, etc out of the action.  Somewhere on the web I downloaded a  slow motion mpg of a fullauto AK firing without the receiver cover.  Kinda cool to see the hammer fall, boltcarrier come back, the empty case go flying all in slo-mo.

Here are some pics of one of Troy Sellar's Krinkovs.....over 8000 rounds and never cleaned...it just won't quit.  I personally shot over 300 rounds through it.
