I don't know about all, but my SLR100s had like a heavy Walnut type wood. It was very dense(and oil soaked!)and a naturally dark wood.

I have a genuwine Polish AK-47 kit and a genuwine Izhmash AK-47 kit - the wood looks like birch plywood to me. My SAR's have stocks out of what looks to be what we Ol' Time Texans call Piss Ellum.

I heard it was a European beechwood similiar to
birch, sometimes it was imported from Finland, I read that Egyptian Maadis were made from wood that was imported from Finland? |

elm / hungary
beech / romania teak / yugoslavia chu and mahogany-asian walnut / china the plywood used by russia, egypt, romania, bulgaria, etc. appears to be beech. who really knows? |
