I saw that, it was an interesting article.  problem is though......everyone knows you can't shoot Russian ammo in an AR type rifle......
(note the sarcasm in that last part before you flame me please)
If I had the extra cash I would pick one up just to have something different.

I picked up a 50 Beowolf case in the post  bulletfest clean up. Quite impressive just looking at the spent case.

I think the name may be a stab at spoofing politcal correctness... Like when Honda changed the name from "Hurricane" to CBR600.  Same product, different name.

The good news is reloading stuff should be out soon.

On those AR's, what did they use for mags?  Any hicaps?

They use the same mag as a .223

I was with Campy at BRC, 5.45 in AR mags requires old style black followers to allow for the round shape to tilt a bit. This tilt reduces the final mag capacity by roughly 25%.

That explains my next question about the hi-cap mags.  If they can do something about that it would be a better seller I think.

RotDorn, I agree with the caliber names.  There are too many as it is now.  I tried to sell a box of 9mm PARABELLUM to a guy with a lugar last weekend.  he wouldn't buy it because he insisted that he needed 9mm Lugar.

Convincing people that 9mm Steyr is the same as 9mm Bergman-Banyard-Largo is imposible as well as getting people to realize the previously mentioned caliber goes by 3 names but is the same round..... I could write about this for days. It gets to confusing calling a round by different names, just call it what it is.

What is the benefit of of a 5.45x39 over standard 5.56?

Just curious

try shooting a 5.45 krinkov full auto. you can keep that short thing on a washing machine, easily, at 100 yards. next, try that same trick with a 20" m-16.

Not really a great comparison though.  The AK bolt weighs more, and it has the big gas piston attached to it, plus tolerances are loser, so one should expect less recoil.  A better comparison would be a 5.56mm AK versus 5.45mm. I have both, but neither are full auto so I can't really compare the two.

On the other hand, 5.45mm certainly does have less recoil caused by its reduced load.  I am not disputing that.

There is an article in the current Gun World magazine about the 50 Beowulf with passing mention of the 21 Genghis.
