How do I remove the rear sight on my Maadi S/A? I'd like to exchange it for a windage adjustable one. It looks like it should twist/snap off, but I sure don't want to break it off.

get a flat bladed screwdriver and put a piece of friction tape on the blade.
position the rifle on the floor...resting on the pistol grip and muzzle. stradle the rifle if you are solo. have a friend hold the rifle if you have help.
raise your rear sight leaf up to about 60° from the horizontal.
depress the leaf spring that is located under the sight leaf by pushing down on it at the front...in front of the sight pivot point.
this will require a good bit of down pressure. be careful! one slip and that screwdriver can puncture a hand or a thigh.
once the pressure is off the leaf, you can wiggle one pivot stub imto the larger hole of the keyhole shaped pivot slots and remove it.

Thanks, CAMPYBOB. That is one tough leaf spring. I really had to lean into it to wiggle the sight free.

If you got a drill press, you can use a drill rod or any other round chucked up in drill press, while rec. is held in padded vice, lower press with rod on the leaf (front of sight) then pivot sight out. Makes an easy one man job.
