Are there any Russian red dots for AK's that will let you get a decent cheekweld while using the sight?  Do Kobras sit too high?

I don't think so, as long as you are using the side mount.  The Kobra does indeed sit high, I can't even get a decent 'chin weld' with my AKS74  Oh well, it is what it is.

freedomoptics has a bunch of good pics of mounted optics, so plant your cheek, measure your eye height, and compare the pics

kobra works fine for me

I could e-mail a pic of My BSA on a BP-02 Mount to give an idea of what kind of cheek weld you might get out of that combo, but I know it isn't completely authentic as far as using eastern block optics.
