i have a posp 3x12 on my romak. decent glass, but there is MUCH better out there for the same money.
tasco propoints are in the same price range and i know they are decent red dots for the money. |

the kobra is outclassed by the PKAV, when the kobra's battery dies or the LED burns out you have nothing to aim with just like an aimpoint or eothingie. with the PKAV it has a black ring and dot etched into the glass allowing you to shoot without power. PKAV>Kobra. and yes the PKAV is a "real" AK optic |

The seller is Freedom Optics, who from my understanding of Russian optics, buys 'the good stuff'. *shrug*
I had a PK-A, and liked it. This doesn't look too different from a PK-A. |

That one seems sort of expensive, but then again, with Russian optics, it's all about what plant it was made in, and optics from the top plants cost more. I, of course, have NO idea how to differentiate  I have a POSP 4x. Neat. Paid well under $100 for it, and get an illuminated reticle, and it seems pretty sturdy. Eye position is pretty crucial on those, making the rubber eyepiece a must-have, IMO. Also, the reticle visibly moves around when you make adjustments, which isn't neccesarily bad, but it's sort of goofy the first few times you see it. Like I said, that one seems expensive, but in general, Russian 4x is not a bad deal for the money, IMO. |

Easily closer to $90 from Yuri at Freedonoptics, or Tantal. Tonka Tuff too. Figure out how much fast object blasting vs paper punching/long shots you want to do, then choose the optic. One of the nice things about the 4x24 PSO is the ability to see the irons underneath. |

Just got mine and like it. I have a PK-AS too, and a PK-23 on a different gun. All of them are good for the price I feel. I don't like the Kobra, though. |

He does mean PK-AS. The PK-AV has no black dot or circle. Regardless, i'd probably rather have a PK-AV then a kobra if my life depended on it (and i own both). You can instantly use the iron sights, and the mount is much stronger than the one on my kobra (AA version). The tube design looks like it would take more damage then the single lense of the kobra as well. The PK-AS looks like a damn good sight, but i already have two AK pattern red dots, dont feel like dropping that kind of money on a third just yet. |

These are calibrated for the 7.62x39, not the 7.62x54R right? Anyone know if these would Fit an SKS?

The siderail brackets do not fit the SKS (sure the sks forum can help you more in this area), but the weaver base models can work with a SKS-specific mount.
For the std range to 150yds, a simple hold under/on/over works easily from the center reticle. |

My wife has a PK-AS on a goosneck mount on her AR-15.
Advantages: Nice clear optics with minimum distortion. Very long eye relief. Black reticle, ability to turn on LED if you need it. All zeroing adjustments are in the mount. Range dial calibrated in MOA, so it doesn't matter what caliber you shoot. It's made for Russian solders, robust, rugged, simple. Disadvantages: It's tall, no cowitnessing on this puppy.
