I am thinking about getting a Kobra EKP-1S-03M for my SAR-1. I had a few questions...
1. Do you need to remove it to clean the rifle? 2. When removed and remounted does it hold zero? 3. Do you need tools to remove and remount it in the field? 3. Can you still use the iron sights with the Kobra mounted?
THANKS!

1 Yup 2 Supposed to-Mine does, but I don't know if any variations occur at all. 3 No, the side lever is what holds it in place and is leveraged out by finger pressure. 4 No, irons are covered.

I was concerned that if it malfunctioned (batteries died, etc.) that I might need the iron sights... QUICK! But if it is easy and quick to remove that sounds OK.
If it didn't hold zero when removed then you'd either need to keep your gun dirty or plan on "zeroing it in" every time you took it out.
Sounds like it might just work.
Thanks chwi548!!

I think you will like it and will be surprised at how it complements the AK.

Do you know who has them these days? I'm looking for one too, Tantal over at AK47.net doesn't seem to be taking orders for them any longer...only the newer version and I prefer the older.

Nope. Outside chance at CDNN or Centerfiresystems for the older AA model.

Just got mine from www.freedomoptics.com (Kalibr)...ordered it Monday night and had it Thursday! Mounted it and it looks and feels awesome! Looks like I'll be ducking out of the family picnic early on Monday to sneak off to the range...
