I think I did a thread like this a long while back, but forgot what the results were.

So, how many mags do you have per AK? (i.e. total number of AK mags divided by number of AK rifles)

I currently have 3 7.62x39mm AKs and about 12 mags per rifle (11.67 actually). Yup, I only have 35 mags.

I bought the mags I have now a while back for an average price of about $7 and didn't have the disposable income at the time to grab up more. I now have a little money to spend (still not very much), but all the good deals are long gone. I was a complete idiot and missed out on the Sportsmans Guide package deal earlier this year. So now people are paying $15 for new 30 round AK mags, or $12 for well used mags. I saw one or two good deals on the EE (one really good deal) but I only recently got the third AK so I didn't feel the urgency to grab them up. They were quickly snatched up by others. Now I have another AK and want more mags. I just don't know if I want to be spending $15 per mag....

Well, here I sit feeling inadequate and in need of more mags. Arfcom, do your worst and make me feel even more inadequate. I need to discover a good baseline for a comfortably large mag stash....

Same here, bought over 100.
I was trying to get an Aluminum, Slab Side or a Bakelite.  No dice.

I needed AK .223 mags and couldn't afford the prices of the european mags( have the Yugo M72 .223 and romanian .223 pistol) they don't take the same mags. But I found a seller on the auction. AK .223 plastic type for 10.00 each. I bought 20 of them....best deal I have found yet and I don't care what make they are cause they work in either the Yugo or Romanian..... Currently I have battle packs of 12 mags per AK. I picked up some SAW mag pouches (hold 6 30rd mags) from Tactical Solutions for 10.00 each. Put 2 on a pistol belt and you have 360 rds....plenty to cause some trouble with.

Yes...I remember the day of 5.00 mags and it makes me sick to pay 15.00 or 20.00. I have noticed there aren't as many mags for sale on the auctions as this past summer. However, if you want a good investment Google the 75 rd drums. I have found them for 90.00 recently and am buying a few of them per month. Good investment.....

I was thinking cooling ..

I prefer the garand system..

I have 1 AK and another on the way. I also just started my AK obsession about a year ago. My mindset is 7 per rifle and I currently have 14 mags and 1 75rd drum.

One AK, a Lancaster Polish UF, 17 30 rd mags. One in the pocket inside the drop case with the rifle, 16 more in four E German rain pattern 4-mag pouches.

And all my mags but the one that came with my rifle are E German too. The one that came from Lancaster is a Yugo I think.

I bought a dozen of the SG mags, but they are fairly crappy (condition wise) I use them for the range.  I lucked out a while back and my dealer had someone trade in 350 mags and he told me to pick out whatever I wanted for $10 ea and I found some real nice Chinese "flat backs" so those are set aside for the milled MAK90 and some nice Yugo bolt hold open mags for the M70AB2, they were all brand new.  I think I have 30 total?

4 steel yugo mags I fit to my Maadi.

Didn't have the $$$ for more.

Off the top of my head I counted about 110 7.62 mags for 4 AK's.

That includes 4-100 round and 4-75 round chinese drums.

Hey, I've got some straight 20 round Vietnam era AR-15 mags with alloy followers sitting in my basement and have nothing to use them in at the moment.

Don't for see getting an AR in the near future either. Just nice to know they are there though....(I almost have enough .223 ammo to fill them too and I don't own anything in .223).

Yeah, ammo/mag whoring is a disease.

Do the 50 steel mags I sold last year count? I decided to go primarily Bulgy waffle as my mag of choice, so I dumped 90% of my steel mags.

26+, I only have one AK at the moment (Polish PMKMS), and with it I have:

10 Polish steel mags

18 Polish polymer slab side mags.

1 Romy 10rd mag

But... I am in search of even MORE Polish steel mags so I will report back when I get more.  I have a new addiction I need to feed.  Hopefully, I will satisfy it soon because my bank account balance keeps getting smaller and smaller...

Nobody has pointed out the Romanians for less than 10 bucks deal at AIM Surplus yet?  Here it is:
www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Romanian_30rd_Steel_Magazine.html

Bryan kicks ass.  I was going to order some, but I tried some metal mags in my WASRs, and they are much more wiggly than the tight Promags are.  I guess I'll buy some of those instead.

ETA: Ah, crap - that's too low of a price.  I ordered some anyway.  They're not too wiggly to work after all.    I wish I could change my poll answer from 5-10 to 11-15 now.

Only 3 30rounders as it stands now. I cannot buy any mag over 10rds in this commie state nor can anyone in the state sell them to me. BUT...I can posses high cap mags. Go figure. I am however going to a funshow in PA on Saturday to up my mag count. I'm psyched!!

I've got 7 inbound for myself and another 7 for my brother. I'll post pics when they arrive.

They look pretty beat up and for several dollars more I could have gotten new mags but this is as high a price as I'm willing to pay for any steel 30 rd. AK mag at the moment. If they're really bad (i.e. rusty) I'll sand, strip, prime and paint them.

(picked up 100 SKS stripper clips as well)
