Lucked into a few rnds of Romy surp a few years ago, grouped like Barnaul, no chance or quantity to do impact testing.

Not much experience shooting and testing, selling my last lot of Soviet 5.45 7N1 ammo as we speak. Supposedly, supposedly, from the rumor mill I've been hearing for a few yrs now, that there are several milion rds of Bulgy 5.45 steel core trying to get thru Customs or State Dept or somebody, and is being held up for various reasons. Maybe 1 day it will magically appear, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it waiting to show up. Hope this helps.

Yea, he is advertising this all over the net. Two BIG questions. Will it arrive? And, if it arrives, how much price gouging will go on?

I don't think it is a case of the ammo arriving or not. They will be taking orders. Does anybody have any idea of a price that this has sold at recently? |

I am not aware of this ever being 'in quantity' before, just a few boxes here and there, so no real pricing info exists other than 'not less than usual'.
There were a few cases of 'Extra' 54r about 3 years ago, all snapped up in a few weeks. But no more than a few stray boxes of 5.45 as far as I know. Keith supposedly had many crates of 5.45 on the US docks but the Gov 'interpreted' it as illegal based on the amount of steel being an excessive % of total bullet mass regardless of caliber. Don't get me started on how SS109 is easy to get... weirdness prevails with arms and the Fed alphabet bunch. |

The load years ago was part of the Chief Thunder saga where the feds were already after him for other things. They were not giving him Any breaks and he is in club fed for non-ammo stuff.
You can claim that 5.45 is .215 so it falls below the .22 line drawn in the rules, and that lethality is 'net equal' to allowed SS109, so it should be allowed in here. But they have lots of leeway in, ahem, interpretation at the ATF. Not saying they have an easy job... |
