Hey all,

Is it legal to have an underfolder that is less than 30"?

If not, can there be a large flash hider, or something like that to make it legal?

Any ideas would be apprecaited.

Thanks!

You may want to check the calguns.net website.  There is a good FAQ under the  "CA Legal .223 Self Loading Rifle" topic.  They have the CA DOJ requirements posted.

Does anyone know how to pin a 4" flashhider to the end of the barrel? That would make it a 30" length.

To have the underfolder, it needs to be a fixed magazine.

The BBL length must be 16" OAL is 30" measured when the stock is CLOSED.

One thought might be to pin the stock in the open position in sucha way that it can be reversed at a later time (better than nothing)

It can be semi-auto with a fixed, 10 round mag.  It needs to be built on a receiver that is not listed on the Assault Weapons Ban List.

Correct. Semi-auto is OK. IF it is a semi-auto you have a couple options:

1: Fix the magazine in place and have a pistol grip, flash suppressor (if desired) and FIXED collapsable stock (to make minimum length requirements - unless you put a big honking muzzle brake on it)

2: Use a detachable magazine and remove the pistol grip, fix the stock open, and no flash suppressor.

3: Use a detachable magazine, but make it work in a bolt-action mode (plug the gas system, remove the piston, and remove the piston cover, just to be on the safe side) and you can keep the pistol grip and collapsable stock (fixed if you need the length requirements, normal if you have a brake that makes it meet OAL requirements)

Regardless of how you build it up: 16" BBL, 30" OAL
