I've heard different opinions on what to do with an out of the box AR-15 that I want to shoot.  Should I do a full cleaning and oiling before I take her to the range for the first time?  I don't want to over do it!  Which I tend to do with my pistols!

Well said QUIB.  Once done run four hundred and repeat.
Note any failures and ammo, mags used. Number your mags.
