I grabbed a quart of Mobile one 15w40 at wally world to try out. I have always used CLP . I didn't know what weight to get. I want it to stay put so I got heavier weight. Am I going to die ???

If you wanted it to stay put, you should have bought grease.
Either way, the 15w40 will work fine under normal conditions.

I've been using motor oil for years and I'm still breathing.
You should be fine.

Brother I use grease on a lot of weapons. I cant talk myself into putting it in an AR with the DI set up. WD

I think Walmart has it. Its about same quality IMO as Mobil 1. That quart you bought will last a lifetime.

Best bet is to just use what you put in your pov.

lol I have been using 0 Weight. It works fine.
I have an older bottle of G96 synthetic gun oil i use sparingly on Remington triggers that get an annual flush with brake cleaner and a touch of
Synthetic oil. I also do the bolt action striker within the bolts. I've had them get sluggish in bitter hunting temps. My gunsmith suggested I got synthetic or dry and skip the Dino oil as it gels with cold and age.
No problems since. The Mobil synthetic is just as good.

you'll be fine. I used 5w30 and it works JUST FINE. I've used 5w20 before and it still worked just fine. if you live in a really cold environment I'd drop the weight down, but unless you're in alaska, just use whichever one you feel best with.
