Yes, not a big deal. As long as it is offering a tight fit still. It is only to keep the two halves from rattling.

yup, fitting is part of the deal.
i had one for a while and lost it. now i use a cotton cleaning patch folded double. it does the same thing and i always have a ready supply. |

If you lose the wedge, a short piece of automotive fuel line works as well.
