Today I was finally able to start putting together my Spikes Lower with Stripped upper.  I will include a few pics, and a list of parts that I have used so far.  I still have a bit to go, but am loving it so far.  I went ahead and spent a few extra dollars and ordered the Geissele SSA-E trigger that I wanted during the 4th of July sale so it should be here in a few weeks.  Everything went together really easy and well.  The only thing that I felt a little off was the rear takedown pin where the upper connects.  It may just have to work in, but it is hard as hell to put in and take out.  The upper also seems to catch a bit when trying to lift it up.  Please let me know what you think so far, I am still trying to decide between a 14.5 inch and 16 inch barrel.  I am also going to go with a ambi safety selector.

1.Spikes Crusader Stripped lower
2. Spikes LPK
3.Magpul Miad grip
4.Spikes buffer tube and extension with t2 weight
5.Magpul CTR Mil Spec stock
6.Geissele SSA-E Trigger - awaiting arrival
7.Spikes Stripped Upper

Great job so far, I would suggest using a 16" barrel from Ballistic Advantage or Faxon, and a 13" handguard from Geissele. Either the mk4/8 or the mk13/14, depending on the look and weight you want for this rifle.

I would definately go with a 16" barrel. As you won't have to weld a muzzle device on, or SBR it. The best part imo is that you get to change out muzzle devices easily. This is especially good idea for your first build, as you can experiment/ try out different muzzle devices.
You might want to try out the Seekins Ambi Safety. IMO it's the best deal for an ambi safety for the money. You get a 90 or 45 degree angle safety and a short and long lever for 40$. I found mine for 30$. Oh and their bolt catch 12$.

Thank you guys for your feedback so far, it is greatly appreciated.  I was leaning toward the Faxon 16inch gunner barrel.  You made a really great point about being able to easily switch out muzzle devices.  I just have to wait for Aim Surplus to get some more in stock.  On the Geissele rails they come with their .750 gas block but the Faxon barrels call for .625.  Do Geissele supply this size or will I have to just use someone else gas block.  Thanks

Just started my second.   Almost identical to yours.  Also waiting for my Geissele SSA-E trigger in the mail. I'm also waiting on a BA Hanson 16 in mid length pencil profile barrel and I'm using the Seekins NOXS 15 inch handguard.

People say that inch and a half is not worth it, but I really like my 14.5s over my 16s. If you get one of those skinny FHs you can still remove your gas block. Faxon makes a nice one.

Heres an update so far, I installed the SSA-E Geissele trigger today, fiddled around with the Geissele hand guard.  I just need to get my barrel, gas block and tube, dust cover, charging handle, BCG, and sights.  Its looking pretty sweet so far!!!  Thank you guys for all of your help so far.

I would never pin a muzzle device. I've switched stuff around so much on all of my build I would hate to commit to that. He may get into suppressors later on and want to run a mount on his rifle.

I have SBR's and full length rifles. 12" and 16" are great lengths.

You picked a lot of very good parts for your first build.  Good job on that.  Spikes makes/has made good solid inspec parts.   Some people like them some don't.  Its your rifle.

Now for this.
It may just have to work in, but it is hard as hell to put in and take out.    Tight tolerances it will loosen up over time somewhat.
The upper also seems to catch a bit when trying to lift it up.   I guess the rear lug on the upper is a little thicker,  or the back of the lug may not have been milled enough , or the Fire control group pocket is a little out of spec in that area  or all the above.  It is no big deal at all, will not affect the function of rifle.  I prefer it that way as it keeps the upper and lower from wiggling. Again just tight tolerances.  Will/maybe loosen over time.

Please let me know what you think so far, I am still trying to decide between a 14.5 inch and 16 inch barrel. I am also going to go with a ambi safety selector.   What scope are you going to buy and what will you use the rifle for.  That will help with deciding factors on a barrel purchase.

Again very nice build.

Oh ya  Your flicker is working

Thank you for all of your feedback, I greatly appreciate it.  Ive spent a lot of hours on here researching, so i could build a good one.   Thanks a lot for this forum.

I will be using it mostly for sport and maybe a bit of hunting, I haven't decided between a scope or holographic red dot.  I am leaning toward the 16in, and going with a scope at least for the time being.

Here is another update, I have added a few more pieces.  I installed the forward assist, Spikes BCG, spikes charging handle, and basic Dust cover.  I have to get my flip up sights and barrel, and I will be complete for the time being.  I do see myself switching out a few things though such as the dust cover, forward assist, and bolt catch, and charging handle.  Thanks again everyone for all of the help, it has been much appreciated.
