I've decided to replace my old a2 style front sight with a clamp on gas block with a rail on top of it. What is the best way to make sure that it is level so that i wont have any issues when sighting it in? Just using a standard level?

Eyeball it & use a straight edge if you so desire.

What the guy above me said.  Also, if you have a detachable carry handle, then mount it to use as a straight edge.

1. Take off A2 post
2. Install gas tube in new railed gas block
3. Level your upper in a vice using a level on the top rail if your upper
4. Install railed gas block using a level on the top tail of the gas block
5. Profit.
