Pretty simple, what is the difference between a small hole upper and a large hole upper. I am putting together a Retro AR and the SP1 Uppers from CDNN are small hole uppers (IIRC). So what kind of lower should I be looking for to go with my upper? I was thinking about a Stag Arms lower receiver....will it work?

normal lowers are small pin, bushmaster, rra, stag, mega, ameetec, double star, dpms, superior, grizzly, etc, etc, the majority.

the only large pin recievers are colts.

Keep the same hole size at all costs. The adapters on the market to mate large and small hole parts suck. Since you don't have a large hole Colt lower then bt default you will want small hole parts.

And even then, only civilian production models. LE and military Colts are small pin. I would recommend in general that people should avoid large pin uppers or lowers if at all possible, why deal with headaches if you don't have to. Unless I found a deal I just couldn't pass up on a large pin rifle I would most likely pass.
