Should they be in the holes with the grooves at the right side or left side, or does not matter? Thanks.

Not really, but ideally you want the pins to self center in the receiver (the visible ends out the sides).  Depending on how each pin self center outs, you may find that one direction centers better than another way for each pin.

Like Dano523 said, it doesn't matter which side has the groove. BUT, it is easier to install a hammer pin with the non-grooved end going in first from either side. That way, you don't have to work the end groove past the hammer's j-pin.
