i bought 24 inch heavy bbl upper with a high rise flat top and a free float tube off of a guy i know at work. It is made by jt distributing. It has a 1in8 inch twist. Is this a good upper, and what grain bullet should i load for it??

Somehow you got a double post so you will have to look in two places for responses. Check here to view JT's webpage:

I have one JT kit and it has been excellent and I would not hesitate to use them again.

They make some excellent stuff.  Not to mention it's decently priced

1:8 twist should be good for something ~68 grain.

Cool.  Have some sierra 69 grn bthp bullets.  Ill try a few different powders and stuff out.  I dont have a lower or bolt carrier for it yet.  Will it hurt for me to just use one of my bushmaster lowers and bolt carrier for the time being?

Nah.  If you have the bolt that came with the barrel use that bolt instead of the busy bolt.

At the very least, get another bolt to go with the new upper. This will keep new parts with new and old(er) parts with old.

When you want to shoot your J&T upper, just swap that bolt into the Bushy carrier andyou're good to go.

I agree.  Buy yourself a new bolt.  Keep the carrier, just a new bolt.
