As long as you are mentioning pistols, let me throw in some 1911 action. I've written up a thread on refinishing AR15, as well as one on refinishing 1911s. One thing that I don't mention in either thread is that the OD Green has a slightly different look depending on what sort of light you are in. Direct sunlight looks a little different than indoors, which looks different than late afternoon etc etc..
Here is the before picture, just so we all have a fair idea of what I was working with (typical used parkerized Springfield).
Here is the after, this picture was taken with low lighting, and due to that it makes it look a little more grayish green. Still, it gives a decent idea of how it turned out, plus I just love the picture....
Here is a picture that was taken with more natural and a little more even lighting. I think the greenish color comes out a little better in the picture,and it is probably a lot more realistic as to how it looks in person. I think the wooden grips are much nicer looking, but to each their own, and this wasn't my weapon. In hindsight, I should have done the grip screws OD Green. Live and learn I guess.
