Might be a noob Q, but:  When I used the aluminum vise blocks to install the flash hider they left silver scrapes on the bbl.

I've bought assembled bbl's w/no scrape marks.

I'm presuming that all it is is aluminum scrapings left on the finish?

They almost always leave marks. Someone posted once how to remove them but I never bothered to try it and do not remember what it was.

I use barrel vise blocks lined with polyurathane.  You can also use strips of leather to keep it from marking the barrel.

A little ground rosin might help prevent the barrel from slipping in the vise blocks.  CLP and a bronze brush will remove the aluminum marks on the barrel.
