I gto my lower parts kit this afternoon and decided to install it while watching TV...of course I decided to do it WECSOG style without the proper tools (A small hammer, a 10 penny nail, a short shunk of brass tube that fit in all the holes in the lower, a pair of long needle nose pliers, and some Q-tips)

Everything was going OK until I got to that dman front pin detent.  After a couple of failed attempts with the detent slipping out of the hole and flying across the room, I came across a way that worked on the first try.  while depressing the detent and spring with the needle-nose pliers, I stuck a Q-tip through the front pin holes, and let it hold the detent in place.  The Q-tip cotton puts enough friction to keep the pin from slipping out and you just push the pin in and it forces the Q-tip out.
