collected parts for 2 1/2 years, got lower about 11 months ago, finally sat down to put the pieces together (see post elsewhere about bolt stop detent sticking)   had an armorer friend check out the upper for safety friday.   took it to a friend's range today, ratchet strapped it to sandbags, put a 60' string through the trigger and stepped behind an oak tree and fired a couple.   only had 20 rounds total, but hey it shoots.

the upper needs refinishing, thinking about beadblasing the whole thing with the handguards off and alumihyde II.  If i do this will it be impossible to get all of the beads/sand out of the small crevices?
 anyone tried this?
