I have both the OTAL and a L72. Both beams are very bright but the SF beats it even on a weak battery. The OTAL beam is rectangular at close range but at 25 or farther, both beams are similar.

The OTAL is much smaller than the SF. I wish LDI made it with the 123 battery instead so you can get more burn time and higher brightness.

You are supposed to mount the OTAL on the top rail but I noticed that if it is mounted on the left or right side, it will be closer to the bore line than if mounted on the top.

The SF is around $500 street price for just the head only. You can get the complete OTAL for under $500.

The thing I don't like is the 'flimsy' cable connection which is plastic. Why don't they make a cap to keep the connection waterproof when the cable is removed?

Does anyone know what the screwdriver is for? Are you supposed to tighten the screws once you zero it in?

I've been running an OTAL for some time now and it's worked great.

On the L72 Surefire doesn't make cheap stuff so I'm certain you've got a winner. Regarding the screwdriver you questioned is it an allen wrench? I imagine it's in relation to set screws in the laser head so you can retain your zero once set.
