I am looking for a bipod for my AR15 and my brothers' Vepr.  What bipod is recommended?  The Tango Down bipod looks awesome but I can't find it in me to spend $149 on a pod.

Harris makes a very good bipod.  Many different models, depending on what you want.

Both rifles would need to have bipods made for prone shooting.  Does Harris make a good prone bipod?

Harris BRM-S, probably the most popular in use around here.

Yes, I've used one for prone "F" class HP matches.

But by the time you pay $98 on the harris bipod and another $60-$98 on a rail mount for it the tango down bipod won't seem so spendy..

Of course you will have overpaid for the Harris BRM-S ($80) and for a mount ya don't need, (when sling pin only cost a few dollars, which screws into most YHM and other railed forends).

I was thinking of getting this handguard tacticalgears.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=120 and this bipod www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=688419 .  I could use a sling pin like mr_wilson suggested.

Only problem with the Shooter's Ridge is that it is made in China.  At least with the Harris you are supporting jobs here (not to mention the fact that the Shooter's Ridge is a rip off of the Harris design).

Do you think I should get that handguard and a different bipod?  I could just get a piece of rail for my current handguards and mount a bipod that way.
