stuh505,
I've used a number of gloves for target shooting, range work and in the field toting a rifle. Ran into the same problems.
Here is the best of what I've found ... they're all pretty good.
Glacier Gloves 821BK:

Neoprene, pre-curved, slit-finger design for your trigger finger and thumb (very handy when shooting a long-range rifle!). Lightly lined with fleece, so your tootsies are nice 'n' cushy.[baby]
Southwest Motorsports Hi-Impact II glove:

Flexible, well-fitting, grippy, fine in warm weather; also sans loud logos, unlike other mechanics-type gloves. Check out their Web site for their other gloves, too.
Hatch Shorty Operator Gloves:

Outdoor Research Gripper gloves:

Fleece gloves are great for cold weather but most lack grip. Not these. Good for in the snow; they lack dexterity for shooting, though, in my experience.
The Glaciers are what I use during cold and/or rainy weather. The Southwest gloves are what I use in warm weather in the field.
I had the long "aviator" style Hatch Operator gloves and they were OK; not real durable and not nearly as grippy as the Southwest gloves. Plus, not being an aviator, [jump]the long cuffs were a nuisance. This new shorter style would be an improvement, but I prefer the Southwest gloves.
