Hey guys,
I recently bought a used Bushmaster Varmint that came with a flip up front sight that's clamped to the barrel. The rifle came with a scope, but did not come with a rear sight. I did some searching and it looks like I have a front YHM flip sight ?  My question is can I purchase any brand rear rail mount sight or do you need to purchase matches pairs of front and rear sights ? My plan is to temporarily ditch the scope and practice shooting old skool iron sights.   Can I just purchase any YHM rear flip sight ? Some sight compatibility 101 would be MUCH appreciated ! Not sure what brand it is, but it doesn't look like the YHM sights that I'm familiar with.

If it is the standard AR height though, then any kind of rear sight will work. Wish I had a measurement for you but I can't recall at the moment. With the exception of Troy Micros and other HK height sights, those are a little shorter.

I'm certainly no expert but that sight looks to be the "usual " height for a front sight.   I think you can buy any rear you like.

Correct. It was made by YHM, they don't make that model any more but it's the standard height. OP, don't get rid of that sight, lots of folks with the "ORC" carbine are wanting one of those but they seem to be getting a little hard to find.
