Here's a pic of a 600 round torture test performed here for durability on a 700 in a .308. We were testing especially to see if the system loosened under the recoil of a .308.

The nine shots pictured were factory match Remington 168. The other in-between 591 shots were PMC.

Off and on 600 times in a row

We shot as fast as a 250 degree max barrel temp would allow.

The scope was put on, then the shot taken, then the scope was taken off, then the scope was put on, then the shot taken, then the...as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, .....596, 597, 598, 599, 600 times.

Those are 1/2" squares and as you can see, it slowly "drifted" up just about 1.0" from start to finish of the 600 round test.

It wore our fingers off...but it did not loosen.

What "soft mount" for the Remington 700 are you referring to?

For that matter I suspect some might be interested to see the "tested" Rem 700 mount.

Distance was 100 yards and I didn't put that rail away for safe-keeping...so it's mixed-in, given away, or thrown in a drawer somewhere.

Steel rail or aluminum rail?
Were there any adjustments made to the throw levers during the test?

A true torture test is to send me all of your stuff,

and I will give them to my 2 year old son,

and if he cant destroy it or throw it out of sinc.....nobody can.

Bet your fingers are tired as hell.

It was one of our 7075 700 rails.

So I thought the Marines were THE torture test. I've heard that if you locked a Marine in a room overnight with nothing but a bowling ball...that by the next morning the bowling ball would either be busted, lost, or ... pregnant.

Hmmm, actually you did not mention this...How long of a time duration was it from the 1st three rounds to the last 3 rounds? I think the actual drift observed is just from heating and/or lighting, once again indicating the mount was not causing any adverse POI shifts. Impressive test and result.

Edited to add: Just curious how many times the barrel was cleaned and at what intervals?

I didn't time it...but it took damn near a whole morning.

It started clean, and then I gave it a swipe before I shot the mid and last group.

This group is 6 shots at 100 with two different scopes on the same .308.

It's about swapping scopes after each shot.

I called the one flung to the right.

IIRC, it was 3 ball bearings in a padded room. 1 would be broken, 1 missing, and the Marine would claim he was never issued the third.

Are there any concerns with creating a recess on the upper receiver of an AR15 if you were to remove and replace it 600 times.

Mark,

Do you recommend that when using your products, that all mating surfaces be completely dry or do you recommend any grease?

I've been using your BUIS but it never really comes off so I've never really thought much about it. But if you are running some optics that you do intend to remove and replace periodically, is it a good idea to use a light application of grease or should you just make sure everything is dry and free of grit?

Even though we ultra-polish the lever engagement surface, and it works great without it, I think a little slick'm on the cam is a good thing.

The rest should be dry and free of grit.
