I bought a used Leupold 4x from Samplelist (SWFA's used scope section) for a very small amount of money. It's just going on my cheapo blackpowder rifle.
I remember years ago some people would buy fixed power scopes because they were supposedly more reliable and had better glass. Is there any truth to this anymore?
Also there's some sticky tape like residue on the scope body. The scope was much better than SWFA described it, and I was planning on bowflaging or duracoating it any way since it has a glossy finish, but I'd still like to clean the goop off. Any brilliant suggestions on what to use?
