Ordered a flattop upper from Rock River.  Will be here in another three or four thousand years (30-60 days backorder).  I plan on putting an aimpoint or maybe an EOTech on it.  Until then - or if the optic goes bad -  I will need a back up.  I'm only going to need the rear sight.

I'm already leaning toward a full detachable carry handle.  It's what I'm used to, I had one on my issue M4, and I like the utility of using the carry handle as an optic mount by itself - in addition to the optic mount I will be using.

What other choices would Y'all reccomend? One of the Mangonel sights?  LMT's Tactical Rear Sight?  GG&G A-2 BUIS or MAD?  These are the ones I can think of, I know there are others too.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A.R.M.S. makes a really good flip-up sight.

Troy for in the dirt.
ARMS 40 for the urban jungle
LaRue for a fixed.

I like the LaRue on my M4gery. It seems to stay sighted in no matter how many times I remove and replace it.

Troy for the dirt.
Troy for the urban jungle.
Leave Troy in up position for fixed.

I like my YHM.  My ARMS is nice and all, but I like how it locks in the up postition and has a smaller apeture

How do you deploy the Troy sight?

I like the ARMS 40 sight because of the quick spring design, but am looking at some other options for various reasons.

There was a KAC 300m for $75 recently on EE.  More than adequate since it is generally down with an Aimpoint.  Spend the difference on ammo and shoot it.

I replaced my ARMS 40's with Troys, and happy with the decision...

Troy or GG&G for me. ARMS just feels chintzy in comparison.

You're wondering if Troy was dumb enough to mount their own sight on backwards, and post it on their website?

This:

is what it looks like when this is deployed:
