Weaver is a type off rail with a common sizing nearabouts.

Pickainny is an actual specification with exact tolerances and dimensions in 3d.

Thats all I know.

The reason I ask is because I can't figure out why Aimpoint offers both weaver and picatinny mounts.  I thought the two were interchangeable.  Of course, I used to think that about .223 and 5.56 too.

The cross bar (picatinny) in an ARMS mount will be too wide to fit the slot in a weaver rail.

After grinding a wider slot in a cheap weaver rail the ARMS mount fit perfectly.
