I am considering getting either a TA39-4 or a TA50-4 for a flattop. I really like the idea of a quick detachable LaRue mount, but is it the right height? Does the Special Ring Base give me any advantage being able to switch between low, medium and high rail adaptors?

What is the best height?

1.  A Compact ACOG with the built-in M16 mount and a LaRue Compact mount.

2.  A Compact ACOG with Special Ring Base and a Low, Medium, or High rail adaptor.

Hi,
I am running a compact acog with the Larue mount and an ARMS 40L. The Larue puts the acog at the perfect height for use on a flat top. The ARMS 40L lets you move the compact acog back further. I have a 1.5x24 which has 3.6in of eye relief, so if you are using a 3 power acog with the 1.5 in of eye relief, that will make a big difference in getting a full FOV in your compact acog.
