Here is the weird part, it's only on the elevation wheel and only when I move the dot down. It doesn't feel grainy when I move the screw up. Is this a known issue or am I worrying too much? It still adjusts just fine and I got it zeroed, but the clicks aren't "positive". It feels like there is sand in there, and it's hard to tell how many clicks I've move the screw. Anyone else's Aimpoint the same way?

Seeing as how you are in NM, and knowing how sand can and will get into damn near everything, I bet there's a little sand in there somewhere. One thing to try would be to get some "canned air" at a camera shop (or even wally world), and give the adjustment screws a good blast and see if it helps any.
