Will this work for rapid fire hits on 6" plates at 120 yards?  I think it will do fine 2MOA Dot with the 2X mag should have plenty of white plate hanging out the sides of the dot...right?

Skip the magnification, it ruins the whole point of using a reflex sight. You could do that kind of shooting with an ML2 or M2 if you're up to it.

Its a dual purpose sight I have to be able to shoot 6" plates at 120 yards as fast as I possibly can with this system the 2x wont hurt my time at all on the closer shots.

Its a horrible optic which cant shoot up close worth a damn.  Have you actually used the optic in question?  I considerit one of the worst optics of all time.

Aimpoint in general or this particular model?  No I have never used an AIMPOINT personally

Just this model.  Theunmagnified Aimpoint is excellent.  The 2X was just a pooorly executed afterthought which ruins a good optic IMO.  It has a narrow FOV with a definite "toilet tube" effect and is difficult to use BAC style.  The glass is not the best I have ever seen either.  A 2X compact ACOG is a much better optic if you want a 2X scope.  The reticle is the same on the 2X as the normal Aimpoint just the image behind it is twice as large.

No, there is currently one model in military service, the M2, known to Servicemen as the M68 Close Combat Optic (CCO). Other, older models were in service first, but none were magnified.

agreed that it has a narrow FOV but i have owned two 2x aimpoints and shooting father down range they work very well, i did not have any problems doing CQB type work with it.
i am near sigthed so the 2x looks realy good to me .
i would also go with the compact ACOG 10 fold over the 2x aimpoint.

What is the price on the compact ACOG?  I am squeezing this one in on the wife with an Upper purchase I only have so much $ alloted, especially since we just spent 730 on a rifle for her 400 on a used Leupold Vari-xIII 6.5-20 for me and we are buying  her 430.00 3-9 Zeiss Conquest  I am stretching our funds pretty thin

My suggestion is to do without for the moment if money is tight and save the extra money for the 2X compact red triangle model.  It is a better optic, needs no batteries and is lighter weight.

I used to see slightly used comp ACOGs for $350, now I see them new for $700.

where does one find a used ACOG? I dont care new or used as long as its in good shape, does ACOG have lifetime warranty? I have been watching the EE no such luck there

They have a warranty, except that the tritium wears out. I think expected service life is 10-12 years, after that they run on fiber optic and are a day sight only. You can get tritium put back in, I am told. As to where to look, I don't know, I haven't seen one for sale in a while. It seems people are holding tight to them.

I see alot for sale in the EE but no used ones one marked slightly used at not enough price reduction to justify buying used
