What position are they in when open or do you just take them off?  I discovered that if they are in the 12 o'clock position when open they might obstruct the field of view.

Mine go down, that way they are out of the way of everything.

Mine are on the 6 o'clock. After experimenting, I found that flipping them up from the 12 o'clock obstructed my peripheral vision.

I am the only one I know that runs em like this.... front flips up, rear flips down.  Its just that I can open them the fastest that way, and the front one being up has no bearing on my peripheral view.

I take 'em off.  On one rifle I have see-through caps as sacrificial lenses, and on the other one I'm contemplating a bikini-type cover like the ACOG comes with.  I'd take it off whenever I'm potentially using the gun anyway.

i  removed mine completely too. to clean the dust off i just use a lens pen brush that came with my TA01.

The front slams down at the 6 o'clock position and the rear goes to the 3 o'clock.

I'll probably end up removing the rear cover as the aimpoint cowitnesses with an Aimpoint.

Off for me. I keep the covers in my range bag, if I need them because I am going to be hoofing it outdoors or in weather I put them on so they flip down outta sight.

I replaced the front one with a see thru cover.  Back folds, well more like falls down as the spring is shot in it.  I spend alot of time around things that cause alot of particulate matter to be flying thru the air so completly removing is not an option.

Front opens down.  Dont have a rear one mounted.

"When" the spring in the "flip open" caps goes...it'll go as your dot is covering a threat and your life depends on it...ie.  the worst possible time.   W/ flip ups, you'll lose your pic.  w/ flip down, you won't even know.

Front and rear to 3 o'clock...they almost fold flat and will stay out of the way.
