Any recomendations for a carry handle mounted optic for 0-200 meters?

Aimpoint with ARMS#39 gooseneck mount.

If you must have magnification then get a Compact ACOC (3x like the TA50-2).

Another vote for Aimpoint on an ARMS #39 or Compact ACOG.

Can the Aimpoint be mounted on top of the carry handle and if so how does it perform mounted this way?

Your best bet is to use the ARMS #39, which attaches to the carry handle and provides a lower rail in front of it for mounting the Aimpoint.  Some call it a 'gooseneck' or 'scout' mount.  Works great.  I don't have a pic at the moment, but there is one here:

It can be done that way.

But instead of a cheek weld you need a 'chin weld'.  And the trajectory of the bullet will be a bit 'high' since the bullet will have to rise about 4" to intersect the line of sight.

Some people do do this - it allows use of the irons should mud cover the optic.  The accuraccy is enough for COM hits during CQB.

However most of us prefer mounting the Aimpoint between the carry handle and the front sight using the ARMS #39.  Should the sight batteries fail you only have to move your head a fraction of an inch to use the irons THROUGH the Aimpoint.  It also allows a flatter trajectory - such that you can bust soda cans well past 200M by putting the dot on the center of the can.
