I have a 11.5" A3 flattop upper and I am in law enforcement, so it will be going along for the ride.  I am looking for a sight that is good from 0-150m.  I know everyone is going to say ACOG, but I don't want to spend over $500 and I want quick acquisition at close distances. I think a red dot might be the way to go. I looked at the Aimpoint and I wondered if I should just opt for the 2X version.  Can you shoot two eyes open with it?   Everyone says its junk, but why?  Does it just not fit your needs?  I also looked at the Leupold CQ/T, but haven't heard a good thing about it.  Is Trijicon coming out with a similar model?  I've just become confused with where to go.  I'm taking all suggestions.

According to many ppl on these forums, the Field of View is very small on the 2x Aimpoints.  I've never used one, however.

If you really want magnification, you could get a compact Acog for around that price.  Some people swear by them.

I'm concerned with the eye relief on the compact ACOG and it's ability in CQB.  I have never looked through one and I'm not sure it's ok for up close stuff.
