I'm still in the research stage of my SPR project and had a question about the scope used.

I've read that Mark 12 Mod. 0&1 SPRs are issued with the Leupold Mk4 M3 scope, and most pics that I've seen seem to bear this out.

However, there's a huge pic of a SF trooper with an SPR (Mk. 12 Mod. 1) on the cover of this month's SOF magazine, and the scope on his SPR looks smaller than the M3 and is described in a caption as a "Leupold TS-30 sniper scope" (I'm not aware of this model?).

Is this a new issue scope, a typo, or a personal procurement thing?

Thanks for any help here on this issue.

The TS-30 is Military only, as of right now.I believe the scope is 2.5x8x36 , 30mm tube , M3cams, with short eye relief  for the AR platform.

Thanks Wes, but I can't find any SPR info on your site aside from a couple of pics of your builds...am I missing something?

Many thanks to all who've replied.  One more question.  This post on the SPR calls the earlier scope in use on it the "Leupold M3LR".

I've now spoken to three of the large optics retailers and they all said that they've never heard of that model, but think that I'm likely referring to the "Leupold Mk. 4 Tactical M3".

Can anyone tell me if these two are the same, or different?

I'm in the middle of buying an SPR upper and really want to make sure I get the correct scope.

Thanks again for the help.

Jay

M3LR is what some people call the Leupold VariX III Long Range 3.5-10x40 with the M3 turrets.  This is a great all around scope with 30 mm tube and lots of elevation adjustment.  Good for everything except real long shots on real small targets.  I want one of these myself.
