I notice that they refer to the power of an infrered illuminator and some are removable while others are permanently attached.

Is there a benefit to having a removable one?

Does a stronger one help with the range or illuminocity?

Can one just remove an illuminator and replace it with a more powerful one for any benefit?

Thanks

A lot depends on what you say your application/s is/are.

Get a 3rd generation omni IV tube and you won't really need one unless you are really in total darkness (a black room with no doors or windows).

I've had the cheap shit (gen 1 gen 2 gen 2+) and trust me save your money and get a PVS 14 (or comparible 3rd gen Omni IV 64LP rifle sight).

Hell will freeze over before I get a NV optic that isn't 3rd gen Omni 5.
