I love Acogs, I dont want to spend the cash.  I cant wait any longer for the Tripower.  So, I am looking at the Aimpoint ML2.  Can I mount this on my carry handle like a Acog.  Or do I have to buy a silly looking mount that will put it over my forearm?  Please help with suggestions or pics.

Dunno what to say but..

if you go for ARMS #39 you can choose
to either to co-witness or top of carry handle.

if you go for ARMS #2 you still get
channel through so that you still have
iron sight available.

for comfyness, I would have cheek piece.

ARMS number 39 allows the use of irons.

I reccomend a gooseneck, the other options are too high.

My CompMLXD is on the carry handle on a hollow mount using the Aimpoint ring that allows the use of the irons.  The sight is exactly where I need it.  Head shots at 100 off-hand are a piece of cake.

Try this, just got this for a friend on his carrying handle M4.  He bought my old M-XD off me.

Sheesh! Just goes to show how everyone has differsnt taste! I think the gooseneck mount looks awesome and think mounting an Aimpoint on top of a carry handle looks silly.

Aside from looks, the gooseneck mount that puts your Aimpoint over your handgaurds offers many advantages. The ARMS mount SMG pictured creates several disadvantages.

For example, the axis between your line of sight and line of fire will be so far off that you are going to have to put the dot over the targets head at close range to make a head shot.

Handguns are for close range.  If you are that close, why make a head shot?  Very messy.....

I talked to a dealer at a gunshow yesterday about the Aimpoint. Said with it mounted in front of the carry handle, all of your sites will be aligned so if you have to ditch the
scope you're still sighted in. Sounds damn
good to me!

The military is always slow with making changes, but even in our manuals which cover Close Quarters Combat, it describes using M16/M4 at ranges of "inches" on out, with the head being the target for instant, incapacitating hits.
