I saw a mag at a gunshop the other day.  It was a used preban.  However, there was a serial number stamped on the side.  There was no date, nor any LEO / Export only markings.  I can't remember who the maker on the floor plate was.  Are these preban legal?

Thanks,

Brad

That was probably a CAGE (Commercial And Government Entity) code and not a serial number. CAGE codes identify government contractors. An example would be Center Industries code: 6P199. If the magazines are not marked with a date after 9/94 or with the LEO/Export stamp, they are assumed to be preban and legal.

Got it.  The number was 5 digits, but I can't remember what it was now.  There were no dates, so it should be good.  I'll have to head back now.

Thanks,

Brad
