I was looking through my Colt 20 rounders today and found one marked Colt .223 and it has a 1 within a circle at the bottom of the mag body. The baseplate is also lighter in color. (kind of a light grey) Does this circled 1 have any significance?

Thanks,
Matt

The "circle 1" on the side of the mag body of your Colt .223 mag indicates it was an original mag for the early (1960s) commercial Colt SP1.

Thanks kobren,

I remember reading something about it a while back but couldn't remember the specifics.
