I wasn't even aware they produced any .223/5.56. But I am glad they do. Just more ammo for a market in need of it. Hopefully this MagTech and Aquila .223 that has hit the market will be of pretty good quality and help out while other stuff is hard to get or afford.

I ran a few hundred. last week.
clean as any other and it was actually decent in accuracy. absolutely no problems running it in 2 different 16 inchers. I will buy more if it is in stock again. err well maybe I should say it sucks or you hoarders will stay off it. naa it's good stuff |

MagTech = Steel bullets, I think, and no bargain either. I'll stick with Prvi which makes better brass and uses copper jacketed bullets.

I bought and fired about 500 of the MagTech 55 FMJ's last year. They are "223 REM CBC" stamped, and have a green primer laquer.
They where more accurate than S&B and very clean. The cases came out just as shinny as how I loaded them in my mags. Cases are very close in weight, and I use them for reloading now. Good stuff, but here in Holland very expensive. Greets |

Was up at cabelas by omaha neb this weekend and it was the first place I've seen any in stock. I think it was 19.99 for 50 rnds. To much for me. They had a shit load of it piled there.. Also alot of S&B.

I saw several cases of it the other day at a local Gun Shop. It's the first time I have seen it anywhere either. They wanted $25.00 for a box of 50 whick was a little more than I was willing to pay for ammo I knew nothing about.

The guy at the gun shop said it was the next best stuff he had to Black Hill so I picked up a case. :)

They costed Euro 15,-/ 50 (about $20,-), and that's to much for me. It's a very accurate cartridge, but I can make 50 match grade cartridges with a 53 HPBT for Euro 11,5 ($ 14,70), so that's the limit I wanna pay for a cartridge I'm only gonna use for plinking. The Portugese FNM 5,56mm are Euro 10,- / 50 ($ 12,80) and thats a fair price. Btw, the Ports and the MagTech's are very comparable in accuracy.

Its used by my local gun range, they send about 6-10k rounds a day downrange. Its rare that there is any incident related to the ammo with exception of maybe a hard primer here and there.

Any more experiences with this stuff? it's about the only thing that I can find locally for a decent price besides Wolf, which I don't like to use because of how dirty it is.

I got the same info on Magtech being good, but maybe not as good as Black Hill. I bought a case but haven't gotten a chance to fire it. Definitely would shoot it over Wolf.

GI Joes [Joes] in Oregon picked up some but I do not know price yet. Should be around the $380 range. I had a chance to pick up some but cost was to high to sell for me.

I've had good results from MagTech for pistol ammo and saw some of the .223 at my local shop for about $20 per 50rd. Might have to pick up a box just to see how it works.

An outdoor range near here sells Black Hills blue box "remanuactured" 223 55gr. soft or hollow point for $17.95 for box of 50. Would "remanufactured" ammo be considered reloaded ammo by the AR mfgs........and void the warranty? They also sell red box Black Hills 308 for $19.95 for a box of 50. This is the cheapest ammo I've seen anywhere.

I guess it depends on the AR manufacturer, but reloaded and remanufactured are totally different things. Reloading is done by Joe Blow with his own gear. Remanufacturing is still performed in a factory setting just like any other commercial ammo maker. The only difference is, they are not using new brass, and/or the bullets were pulled from other ammo and is being reused. |
