Here at our Wal Mart it's $212.84 with tax for 1000 rounds.  I can order that same amount of ammo from Natchez and save $7.54.  However, I was told by the sporting goods manager that they can special order Remington ammo if your willing to buy 7 cases (Most Remington rifle ammo comes in 200 round cases and most Remington pistol ammo comes in 500 round cases).  I'm sure you could mix calibers.

I'll have to pick some up once I run out of my 650rds of WWB.

That Remington ammo was the first 100 rounds through my new RRA A4.  It shot  just fine.

It's great ammo. Not the hottest stuff, but it works great in my AR.

I've shot it.  It's fine.  Cheap, no FTF's or squibs, nothing.  Just shoots and goes.

I need to go buy a few boxes.  I have 1400 round of the WWB .223 R1VP.  Too bad they don't sell it anymore...

I have about 400 rounds of it and have shot almost 300.  It is good stuff, not as dirty as WWB and reasonably accurate.

I have shot about 400 rounds of that through my bushy and no problems.  i got 600 rounds from outdoor world over the summer for like $2.40 box of 20.

I have used Remington UMC in all of my handguns.   It's well priced and I haven't had any problems.  I've shot about 1K of it through my .40, and 900 through my 9mm.

I would imagine that their rifle ammo is just as good.

I should mention, with the last batch I ordered from Natchez, I did have some problems with bullets getting knocked back in the case from recoil.  I simply ran them all though a Lee factory crimp die to solve the problem.  I figured that was easier than sending back to Remington.  I've shot their UMC pistol and rifle ammo for years and this is the first problem I've had.  I'll not be scared to buy again though.

I noticed the Remington stuff was marked "MC" on the box.

Doesn't that stand for "metal cased", as in "plated"???

Or is it "jackted" with an exposed lead base???

I just picked up a case of 200 from WW for 40.00 out the door. The powder looks like H335? Has anyone weighed the charge? I will have to pull 1 when I get a chance and see what the scale says. I also have 2000 rounds of XM193 on order, but I like the fact that this has no crimps as I reload. So I will shoot it and reload with some 70+ grainers for my 1/7.

ETA: I just pulled the bullet from 1 of the rounds and the charge is 25.7 grains.

then I pulled 1 from WWB and it was 26.0 grains. Powder looked exactly the same.

I think I've shot roughly 40 rounds in the past. No problems. I'd rate it up there with WWB.

How does that compare to others, like WWB or XM193?

I just picked up the only 5 boxes mine had tonight.

ETA: 100 rounds @ $21.40

Asked the clerk about the WWB Value pack of FMJ.  He told me they never carred it.  I wanted to tell him how wrong he was, then i wussed out.

So If I Talk To The Sporting Goods Manager He/She Can Order Me 1400rds Special Ordered. Do ya know if its any cheaper by the case. mimikamimi said his case of 200 rds was $40.00 OTD. well i'll be saving $12.50 if thats true.

I know nothing about reloading.  Is a difference of 0.3 grains a big deal?

The difference would normally have no value since it is a comparison between two different manufacturers' cartridges, but it in this case it would indicate the same or very similar powder is being used in both if they get about the same pressure/velocity.

.3 grains is not a big difference at all when talking about charge weights in mass produced factory ammunition.

Never noticed a difference in over 500 rounds of this stuff against WWB. I like Remingtons new 50 gr JHP round. Wally world here carried 40 round value packs for 11.74. I get good results from it at 50-100 yards.

Its good ammo but I doubt anything will shoot as good as the Winchester (made in Israel) stuff that walmart had in the value packs....at least in my guns unless its match grade.

UMC.......Mnited Stated Marine Corp.....NOT

UMC.......Union Metallic Company

Exactly and since it was a sample of ONE, it really doesn't even mean anything. The next 2 samles could be exactly the same or nearly reverse themselves. A better indication would be a random sampling of velocities of both under the same conditions.

You heard wrong.  Rem brass is one of the top 3 mass produced prefered for reloading.  LC and Winchester round out the mix.

This is, IIRC, the same ammo that used to be sold in the yellow boxes.  Yeah, that underpowered 'crap' that everyone used to pass over when White Box was available.  Now it's all the rage since it's repackaged and White Box is getting expensive.

Guess what, it was good then, and it's still good now!

You cannot make ANY assumptions on this.  All ball powder looks very similar, and burn rates can be *substantially* different.  While interesting to note, it really doesnt have anything to do with pressures.  We would need chrono data on this ammo, and compare to other knowns.

Not true.  R-P brass is some of the best .223 brass out there.  All my match loads use R-P brass.

While I am happy to see a new option.....

1.  This is UMC.  UMC has a history of pretty poor accuracy, and not always being very hot.  If it shoots and has enough velocity to cycle reliably, that will be most important.

2.  Remington brass is great stuff for the reloaders.

3.  The powder charge info is not very relevant, need chrono data, and weapon reliability testing.

4.  The bullet is NOT the typical M193, which is a 55gr FMJBT.  This is a FMJ flat base, as previously noted.  This is not the end of the world.... but this bullet wont have a decent ballistic coefficient past 300yds, and I am guessing it wont necessarily have the same fragmentation behaviors of M193.  Not saying it wont fragment, just that it is different.

If you guys would like, I could chrono this stuff for you as I have several hundred rounds of it on hand.  I have some WWB(223R1), Q3131 and Q3131A I could compare it to.  Although it might take me a couple days to get to it.  Worst case, I know I'll have time Sat.

Actually it looks like you are doing the assuming. I merely pulled 2 bullets, weighed the charge and said it looks the same. Nothing more. An apple pie looks like a cherry pie but they are different correct?

a Gart's(Sports Authority) employee said they had to ship all their Rem. ammo back because it was being repackaged.  wished they had just put a killer sale on.  wonder if that means Rem. just put the same ammo in the new boxes?!

I've chronographed that exact ammunition.

24" wilson stainless steel barrel in 1-8.

5 shot string here in sunny florida, low altitude, high humidity.

Average: 3,188 muzzle velocity (chrono was 10ft away)

To compare, XM193 does 3,356 average in that same gun.

I've gone through about 120 rounds so far and would rate it below WWB for accuracy. So far its reliable but not as accurate as I would like, at least in my rifle. Better then wolf, not as good as WWB, IMO

You can not compare them.  There is nothing to tell you with any certainty what powder is being used and you can't tell by looking.  Also the lots of each powder can vary quite a bit in burn rate and subsequent load.  In general 0.3gr is not significant if you are talking about the same powder and components.

Been shooting the Remington UMC Wally World 20 round boxes in my ARs and Contenders for over 10 years and never had any problems (they use to come in a yellow box).
The Wally Worlds around here never had the WW FMJ in the big box only the more expensive HP.
The brass is very good for reloading.
I even use this once fired brass to make my 6.5 TCU brass- requires opening the case neck to 6.5 mm and reforming the shoulder- never had one split on me yet.

$3.97 a box.....when they have it which is never in our WW's.

I cleaned my WW out about a month ago of 800rnds. It was all they had in the case and in the back. The manager was pissed at the clerk for selling it all to me. He made the comment, "You goin to war or something?" I said yes. He was not amused.

I bought remington .223 because my walmart NEVER has the $7.74 55gr fmj 40rd value packs only the 45gr hollow pts. I gave the cases the once over look and they were kinda dull and a few dings but nothing to raise a red flag about. It all shot flawlessly through my 16" bushy XM15
before that horrible boating accident in which all my guns were lost never to be recovered but if I were ever blessed to shoot again I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
