I have a good friend who is a Sheriff here and I was talking to him about 5.56 TAP and he told me if its legal to own he would get me some if it follows dept guidelines but he wanted the info on it.  Does anyone have the link to Hornadys Law Enforcment page?  When I go to their website and click on law enforcment all it brings up is a page that has a questionaire to fill out and send into them.  I know I have seen it here but I cant seem to find it now using a search.  Also what bullet grain do I want?
Thanks,
Mike

I thought Hornadys policy was not to sell the 5.56 pressure TAP to the public, but they will sell 223 pressure? Now I'm all confused because elsewhere on this board in other posts, thats what is always said.  What is the truth here?  Also what garin bullet do I want?  55, 60, 0r 75 grain?  It seems somewhere I rad here that 75 is to long?
Thanks,
Mike

They do sell 5.56 NATO pressure TAP to law enforcement only. Your friend will have to call Ms. McHale at Hornady. Ms. McHale will provide a fax number for you and will take your fax in return. Your friend will have to fax Ms. McHale a copy of his credentials and also a signed waiver that your friend is an LEO and that he is using NATO pressure ammunition in a NATO chambered weapon.  Once that is filed, your friend will be good to go. I have some 5.56 pressure 75 grain TAP and it is what I use as my primary defense load, outside of work. It is match accurate and HOT. You can definitely tell that you're shooting NATO pressure ammo, it's report is actually louder to me than an of my M855 or M193.

IIRC, the catalog number for the 5.56 pressure Hornady 75-gr TAP is: 8126N  heonly comes in the 75-gr weight version. But remember that there are two (2) .223 pressure version of TAP with the 75-gr bullet. The .223 TAP comes in the RED box, and the .223 TAP-FPD comes in the BLACK box.  he

Any individual officer can order this.

When Hornady faxes their LE price list, you might check out the 75gr practice ammo they sell.  I haven't  received mine yet but the price is about half as much as Black Hills Blue box 75gr.

When you call the Hornady phone number and it asks for an extension, Kathy's is 200.

Save you some time with run around.
